August 2016 Rally

Tue 9th of August at 7:45 pm

The weather gods certainly played a lovely part in our August rally. When the sun came out the day was glorious. A tad chilly when it hid behind the clouds however. Lots of fun was to be had. With Wayne our favorite drill instructor who had the kids riding with precision, Amy was out on cross county teaching our budding Olympians some new talents over the fences. And Sarah & Claire from Bendigo Equine paid us a visit to give the kids some new skills in looking after their horses. We now have lots of budding vets in our midst, and many indignant ponies with temperatures taken, inoculations & microchips given, and fake wounds attended to. Many giggles could be heard at the end of the day with all the groups coming together for games. The bareback seemed to be a hit with lots of lollies to be had by making it to the end without falling off.

June 2016 Rally

What was forecasted to be an ordinary day weather wise, it certainly didn't dampen the spirits of our riders. It was a full house for Heidi's first rally as DC. And the weather stayed at bay, the sun came out on few occasions, and it was a wonderful rally had by all. We were extremely fortunate to have HRV Hero's with us. Their ambassadors Franco Heir (Tas) and Villagem (Frankie) were adored by all. And proving that life after being successful on the race track is certainly achievable. They were amazing ambassadors and I may have heard a few experienced mother's thinking they might like to try these gentle giants themselves. Along with the HRV Here team with had a Maree & Paul Campbell bring along one of their fellows, along with all his paraphernalia, allowing the kids to experience driving as opposed to riding. Our regular instructors Adam Prime (showjumping) and Julie Scougall (dressage) certainly put the kids through their paces and as I looked around I saw lots of new things being tried. It's wonderful to see how hard our kids trying so hard for our instructions. Our cross country instructor for the day was Amy Walsh with plenty more challenges set. Thanks to all our instructors and guests that attended on the day. On a side note: If any other clubs wish to have the HRV Hero Team visit their club contact Tania. Their FB page can be found here https://www.facebook.com/HRV-HERO-1402517453408446/

The PCAV Interzone Teams Horse Trials, for grades 3 & 4 riders, was held at Yeringberg on the 29th May. We had 3 representatives from Bendigo Pony Club competing. Sadly Midland Zone was unable to field teams in either the Grade 3 or Grade 4 sections. All of our riders were part of composite teams, and all did themselves and our club proud. Melissa Harvey on Tee Lee Cee competed Grade 3. April Marsh on Benita Allstar and Lily Dawes on Misty both made up a grade 4 composite team, with their team finishing 6th overall. With April finishing in first place in her group. A mighty effort & commitment by our girls & their families. Well done.
